Hardware Prices Are Likely On the Rise in 2025

Many market analysts and industry experts foresee an increase in the cost of hardware. We recommend that you take matters into your own hands to dodge the price hike and purchase your new IT now before it costs you more to do so. The implementation of any proposed tariffs could impact the market as early as February 2025, so we wanted to discuss what you should consider when purchasing new hardware today.

You Should Be Upgrading Anyway

There are several events occurring over the next couple of months that should have you consider upgrading your IT systems anyway.

Take Windows 10, for example. The operating system will reach its end-of-support date this October, and you’ll have to get your computers ready to handle Windows 11 (not a small feat, considering the requirements). Some devices will have to be replaced entirely, as they will not be compatible with the components needed for this new operating system.

Regardless of how you look at it, now is the time to buy.

Consider Compatibility and Cloud-Based Options

And then there are the other solutions your business uses, chiefly software.

While the tariffs likely won’t impact software, you need to consider that software runs on hardware. If you’re using a piece of software that is only compatible with specific hardware, then you’ll have to think about how this impacts your operations. We recommend that you implement cloud-based solutions when you can to avoid the impact of software licensing and acquisition on your budget.

There are also virtual hardware options that can help you save some money in this regard—contact us for more details.

Don’t Just Think About It Now

While it’s tempting to think about only the present, as that’s the immediate concern, planning your IT infrastructure is about far more than that.

Oftentimes, it involves projecting a couple of years into the future to determine what IT will need to be replaced and when. Hardware will fail, software will need updating, and refreshes are inevitable. Now is as good a time as any to consider where your IT will be in just a couple of years.

And while there’s no guarantee that things will be better for purchasing hardware in the future, you can at least be certain that you’ve done the best you can to prepare today.
